From the Principal

The year is off to a great start! It's hard to believe that September is here already! Teachers and students are enjoying our new SmartBoards. Classrooms have taken virtual field trips and are using interactive math games to extend and strengthen their mathematical computational abilities. The literacy program is also coming alive through interactive technology.

Students are involved with fieldwork this month through an upper elementary trip to the Colorado State Fair as part of our Colorado Studies unit,  third and fourth graders will visit the cliff dwellings as they study the Anasazi Indians, and  our 3rd / 4th grade class is pursuing an investigation of social activism and poetry in the Pikes Peak Region and the global community. Our younger students in grades K-2 are immersing themselves in understanding the intricate lives of critters and insects.  Our middle school teachers are planning three incredible units centered on an environmental study of Fountain Creek, the colonization of space, and migrations of the human race from ancient civilizations to the present. Wow! This is going to be a fascinating semester.
